Andreanna Moravec
With the release of my new recording "Time Is A Healer" it has allowed me to reflect on what an important journey this project has been for me. I really appreciated working with so many talented musicians throughout the process and I thought I would devote a few of the upcoming blog posts to talking about some of my experiences with them. One of the most multi talented violinists I have ever worked with, Andreanna Moravec, added so much to the two ballads she played on, "It's

Katerina's
Pictures and more memories though bitter sweet are still wonderful to share. Here is the last night at my favorite restaurant/club and my second home Katerina's where I performed regularly for 7 years. The feelings I was experiencing that night didn't seem real to me. I couldn't believe that this iconic and uniquely nostalgic place was going to be no more on June 30th, 2014. This timeless, extraordinary healing like place gave me so much and led me to find my own home in myse

Recording session "Time Is A Healer"
With my EP Release "Time Is A Healer" coming up this January 24th 2018 at the Jazz Showcase, I'm remembering some of the fun and excellent times I had during my recording sessions. It was great to have such wonderful musicians play on the recordings. I thought I would share a photo from one of the sessions. So excited to have the incredibly talented percussionist and dear friend Alejo Poveda playing on this album!. BTW who I've known and worked with since before I was twenty

Missing Bill Scott
Today I remember a special man, musician and singer, my brother in law Bill Scott. Bill was a wonderful singer and bassist, very well known and loved here in Chicago and one of the best people I knew.. He sang on many commercials back in the day and also was a regular performer on CBS radio. He had his own orchestra that he led for private High Society events and also his best friend was pianist/composer Bill Evans's, who I was fortunate enough to know and hang with thanks to

There are memories that stay with you always, especially the ones you share with friends. I thought I would remember one of the most enjoyable days Lee and I had with David Gross, Heidi and Noodles at a park/beach in Evanston, IL. Here are some fun photo's taken by David a brilliant trombonist and photographer. Davie, thanks for capturing these unforgettable moments with me and the girls, Noodles and Heidi. Love them.. #LauryShelley #DavidGross #Evanston

The Legendary Jazz Showcase
I have had the pleasure of performing nine times at the legendary Jazz Showcase and the tenth will be my CD release show coming up on January 24th. More on that coming soon! I am very proud to think that I have had the honor of performing under a name that has hosted the giants in music from all over the world, for over 70 years. I've enjoyed performing the music I love and expressing my passion for it along with the incredibly talented musicians that have been apart of it. E
